1991, Circus Ethiopia took a Western circus tradition and they've been making it
their own ever since!
Circus Ethiopia is performed by Ethiopian children who
also take part in creating the show. The children continue to attend school, but
the troupe provides a kind of home away from home when the circus in on the
road. Humanitarian organizations have founds that the circus is a more effective
than the media in explaining issues of health, AIDS, child abuse and family violence. These messages have become an increasingly important part
of Circus Ethiopia shows.
