Justice Adefarasin, a former High Court judge in Nigeria, made his mark with the Red Cross during the 1967-70 failed Biafran war of seccession in Nigeria.
His active participation in Relief Action during the conflict, when the Nigerian Red Cross was under heavy pressure, demonstrated his administrative, organisational and fund-raising talents.
Adefarasin, as chairman of the League, travelled widely across the globe. He took a specific interest in human rights and humanitarian principles but, having been a volunteer at grass roots level, never forgot relief and development issues.
He was born at Ijebu-Ode in Nigeria in 1921. After initial education in Nigeria he went to London and was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1950. |
