The prisoner

A prisoner in a Ugandan jail sculpted this wooden statue in 1985. Inmates made
many such figurines, which were sold to provide them with an income. This statue
was given to Hernan Reyes, an ICRC doctor, at a celebration organized by both
wardens and prisoners during the first ICRC visit to the jail.

On loan to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum
Geneva, Switzerland.
